JAKE BACK FOR SCORPIONS

SCUNTHORPE have named heat-leader Jake Allen as their sixth confirmed signing for the 2023 Championship campaign.

Allen returned to the Eddie Wright Raceway this year after a season at Redcar, although his campaign was affected by injury – and promoter Rob Godfrey has high hopes he will be back to top form.

Godfrey said: “I’m convinced Jake is going to have an amazing year in 2023. He’s pumped up for it and everything is dropping into place for him. He knows how to do it, and he is going to do it, simple as.

“I think he needs to be riding more, which is what he lacked last year. Now that he’s got a team place at Leicester in the Premiership, that’s going to make a world of difference to him.

“All the Scunthorpe fans know how good Jake can be, he and Josh Auty shared the No.1 spot in 2019. Jake is still only a young man – we didn’t see the best of him in 2022, but I’m convinced we will in 2023.”
