DAN BACK FOR LIONS

DAN Thompson will be back with parent club Leicester next season as he looks to build on a promising debut Championship campaign.

17-year-old Thompson quickly trebled his starting average of 2.00 to move into the main body of the Lions’ side this year, and maintained a figure over five when racing in the No.2 position.

Boss Stewart Dickson said: “Dan signing for us is no major surprise I’m sure, I felt he did very well for us last season starting on a two-point average and increasing it significantly.

“He was supposed to stay at reserve all season but with the situation surrounding Ty Proctor and Josh Bates where it didn’t work out, he went up.

“He may well have jumped up the team anyway regardless of other riders losing form.

“I do believe there’s a couple of away tracks he needs to try and conquer but the overall package with Dan is good, he claimed some big scalps and I believe he’ll make more good strides forward next season.”
