TIGERS CHARGE THROUGH
GLASGOW raced into the MAXiCab KO Cup semi-finals with a thumping 58-32 win over rivals Edinburgh at Ashfield.
Chris Harris marked his 100th Tigers appearance with a 15-point maximum as they set up a last-four clash with Poole by overcoming an eight-point first leg deficit over the Monarchs.
That margin was wiped out in the early stages as the hosts opened up with three successive 5-1s, and the visitors were limited to four race wins on the night.
Harris was backed up by Villads Nagel with 10+3 as the young Dane was unbeaten until Heat 15, with the rest of the Tigers all scoring strongly. Paco Castagna was the top scorer for the Monarchs with seven.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “We hit them hard and early, bringing back the eight-point deficit from the first leg in the opening two heats.
“It was then a case of keeping up the pressure and the boys were magnificent. I’m ecstatic and it’s our best display of the season.
“Villads produced a couple of epic rides to come from the back, and he was outstanding yet again. But everyone played their part.”
Edinburgh manager Alex Harkess said: “The first three races were the killer. The track was grippy and we couldn’t cope with that to start with. As the match went on we started to adjust to it, but the damage was done.
“We didn’t do ourselves justice tonight really and we can only say we’ll do better when we come back in the league.”
