SCOTTISH RIVALS SHARE POINTS

GLASGOW rescued a 45-45 draw against rivals Edinburgh despite being six points down with two races to go at Ashfield.

The Monarchs looked set for a third away win of the season at the home of their neighbours, but Kevin Juhl Pedersen and Freddy Hodder set up a last race decider with a 5-1 in Heat 14.

Tigers skipper Chris Harris then completed a paid maximum (14+1), teaming up with Leon Flint (12 to register a 4-2 in Heat 15, split by Dan Thompson (11+1),  and ahead of Kye Thomson (11) to ensure a share of the spoils.

Both sides remain well placed for the Cab Direct Championship play-offs with the Monarchs up to second place level on points with leaders Scunthorpe, whilst the Tigers are fourth, two points ahead of Redcar with two matches in hand.

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “We definitely got out of jail in the last two races. Fair play to the boys for digging that result out. 

“The way it had gone in the second half of the meeting, it actually feels like a win. 

“It wasn’t a great performance. We had too many riders not at the races.”

Thompson said: “It is a good point, albeit a little annoying.

“Kye and I were confident in the last heat, but once Bomber (Harris) gets out he is hard to beat, and we have to look at it at another point gained on the road.”
