SCORPIONS SET FOR SEMI SHOWDOWN

SCUNTHORPE will kick off the Cab Direct Championship play-offs when they host Glasgow at the Eddie Wright Raceway in the first leg of their semi-final this Friday (September 11).

The Scorpions last won the second tier title back in 2012 and promoter Rob Godfrey has stressed the importance of building a lead to take to Ashfield in the return on a date to be confirmed.

He said: “The whole season builds up to this moment. The play-off semi-final is the biggest meeting of the season so far at the Eddie Wright Raceway, but we want to get through to the Final and have an even bigger date.

“We need our supporters there in both number and in fine voice, as our riders look to build up a lead that we can defend at Glasgow for the second leg.

“Every point will be vital and will be fought over on Friday, and our riders will give everything.”

The other semi-final between Poole and Edinburgh has been set for September 16 at Wimborne Road with the return at Armadale 48 hours later.
