SCORPIONS SET FOR BIG CLASH

SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey says Friday’s huge clash with champions Poole will offer a severe examination of their play-off credentials.

The Scorpions are top of the Cab Direct Championship heading into one of their plum fixtures at the Eddie Wright Raceway against a Pirates side who are unbeaten in the league and have multiple matches in hand on their rivals.

Godfrey said: “It’s a vital match, and one we know will be a very stern test of our unbeaten home record.

“We come into the meeting on top of the table, which is a great place to be, while the Pirates are in mid-table although that is purely down to the fact that they have ridden only three league matches to this point.

“Poole now becomes a big test for us, and they are strengthened in my opinion by the inclusion of Edward Kennett as a guest at reserve.”
