SCORPIONS COMPLETE GLADIATORS DOUBLE

SCUNTHORPE are up to third in the Cab Direct Championship after a 50-40 win over Plymouth in a meeting featuring plenty of exciting racing.

The Scorpions took some time to shake off a battling effort from the Gladiators, but the home side did enough for the win and also the aggregate point after their recent victory in Devon.

Steve Worrall recovered from a last place in his first ride to win his next four and finish on 12 points, whilst reserve Zaine Kennedy scored 9+1 as the rest of the Scunthorpe team scored solidly.

Joe Thompson (11+1) and Nicolai Klindt (11) both provided good resistance for the visitors and recent signing Daniel Klima impressed with 7+1.

Scorpions boss David Howe said: “Fair play to Plymouth – they had us a bit worried at the mid-point at the meeting.

“It was a good team performance from our boys and I could have put any of them out in Heat 15.”

Plymouth manager Garry May said: “It was a good performance from my lads, but two of them weren’t really on it.

“The two meetings against Scunthorpe have been really good racing, so it’s good for speedway.”
