PREVIEW: WORKINGTON v SCUNTHORPE (BSN)

WORKINGTON stage their first home meeting of 2026 and look to build on a positive opener when they host Scunthorpe in the BSN Series today (Saturday).

The Comets put in a strong performance at Redcar last weekend, going down by six points, and will now look to put a victory on the board on their home circuit.

They face a Scorpions side who have struggled on the road so far in 2026 but who did gain the confidence boost of a home leg KO Cup win over Poole.

With Vinnie Foord ruled out due to injury, the home side bring in teenage sensation Cooper Rushen as a guest.

Stand-in Comets boss Baz Collins said: “Running Redcar close last week away from home was a positive start; we could’ve won as we were in some great positions but we didn’t quite capitalise on them.

“Scunthorpe have had a few meetings under their belts now and it was a great result for them to be beat Poole last week at home, so they will have some renewed confidence coming into Saturday.

“They have a strong reserve in Simon [Lambert] and excellent number one in Josh [Pickering], so we will need to hit the ground running and we will take nothing for granted, but I feel we will have the fire power in the middle-order to get a result.”

Scorpions youngster Ryan Ingram said: “I quite like it around Workington. If I can bag a few points away from home, it will do me the world of good.

“The team are feeling confident after last Friday’s win over Poole, so if we can carry that on and get a win, or keep it close because we know we are good at Scunny, it will be another confidence booster for the team.”
