PREVIEW: SCUNTHORPE v BERWICK (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

SCUNTHORPE race their opening Cab Direct Championship fixture of the season tonight (Friday) with Berwick providing the opposition at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

The Scorpions hand a debut to new signing Dan Gilkes at reserve, but they are without Luke Harrison due to concussion and they use the rider replacement facility.

The Bandits also have r/r in operation with No.1 Peter Kildemand out with a broken collarbone, whilst Tom Spencer comes in at reserve for the injured Reid Battye.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We are also looking for improvement from other areas of the team and the jury is still out on that one.

“We have options that keep popping their head up, but I want to be loyal to our riders. I know there are some very good riders in this team but some of them just need to come out and show us that.

“The league campaign starts tonight against Berwick and it definitely needs to be a winning start, so there is no time like the present for the team to step up.”

SCUNTHORPE: Josh Pickering, Luke Harrison R/R, Nathan Ablitt, Connor Mountain, Michael Palm Toft, Ryan Ingram, Dan Gilkes.

BERWICK: Peter Kildemand R/R, Jye Etheridge, Victor Palovaara, Lasse Fredriksen, Nick Morris, Jack Smith, Tom Spencer.

SCB Referee: Willie Dishington
