PREVIEW: REDCAR v OXFORD (MAXICAB KO CUP S/F)

REDCAR and Oxford kick off their MAXiCAB KO Cup semi-final at the ECCO Arena tonight (Friday) as the teams look to join holders Poole in the Final.

The tie is set to be completed in 48 hours with the return scheduled for BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium on Sunday.

The in-form Bears bring in Jake Allen to guest for long-term absentee Erik Riss, whilst the Spires operate rider replacement for Jordan Jenkins at a venue where they only went down by six points in league competition.

Redcar star Danny King said: “Oxford are a really solid outfit, they cannot be overlooked at all. You have also got to remember they have won at Poole this year so we need to be on our game.

“Sam (Masters) is having a really good year, he’s riding really well in two leagues in the UK as well as in Poland. Sam also goes very well around the ECCO Arena so he will be tough to beat.”
Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “We’d like another shot at Poole in the Final, but we’ve got to take it one step at a time – firstly, we must beat Redcar on aggregate.

“We lost our Cab Direct Championship clash at Redcar in May by just six points. We want to keep it tight up there on Friday while, of course, a win would be even better.

“Whatever happens, we want to be in a position where we can finish the job at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium on Sunday.”
