PREVIEW: GLASGOW v EDINBURGH (CAB DIRECT CHAMP P/O S/F)

GLASGOW and Edinburgh meet in a huge Cab Direct Championship play-off semi-final at Ashfield tonight (Friday) with the visitors holding a 14-point advantage.

The Monarchs were 52-38 winners at Armadale a fortnight ago to give themselves a fighting chance of progression, but they still need to improve on their two most recent visits to their rivals in order to progress.

Glasgow have named a full-strength team including Villads Nagel who missed their Cup exit to Poole in midweek, whilst Edinburgh will operate rider replacement for skipper Paco Castagna who broke his shoulder in the Czech Republic last weekend.

Tigers boss Cami Brown said: “It’s fair to say, since finishing top of the league, it’s not really gone to plan at all. But this is when we have to get it right, simple as that. 

“The Monarchs have been an excellent side all season after some very shrewd signings. This is such a difficult meeting to call.

“We will be all guns blazing. We have to, and the boys will, pull out all the stops. 

“We have managed to hit 53 and 58 on the last two occasions here against the Monarchs. Those results mean nothing now but I’m confident we can do it again to race against either Redcar or Poole in the decider.”
