PREVIEW: POOLE v GLASGOW (MAXICAB KO CUP S/F)

POOLE host Glasgow in the first leg of a heavyweight MAXiCab KO Cup semi-final at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).

The tie brings together the current top two in the Championship with the possibility of further meetings between them later this season with silverware on the line.

The Pirates are back at full strength as they bid to build an advantage to take to Ashfield for the return on September 7.

Meanwhile the Tigers are looking to improve on a generally disappointing record in Dorset, and they are without Villads Nagel (Danish commitment) and Max Perry (injury).

Fraser Bowes, who scored well at Poole for Workington recently, and Dayle Wood come in as guests with skipper Chris Harris likely to have a pivotal role to play.

Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “The way the fixtures have fallen for us I don’t think there can be any better way to end the school holidays than having Bomber at Poole.

“The guy is loved by fans up and down the country, and here at Poole he never fails to make the headlines, be it riding for or against us.”

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “We’ve got a wretched record at Poole apart from one outstanding performance there when we won the league title on their home patch.

“We just need to produce that sort of grit and determination again. This is the acid test. 

“It’s a very difficult track to go to. But I believe we have the riders to deal with it. We go there to win or keep the scores as close as possible to finish the job at Ashfield.”
