PREVIEW: POOLE v GLASGOW (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

CAB Direct Championship holders Poole clash with Glasgow at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday) in their first encounter since last season’s incredible Grand Final.

The Pirates and the Tigers fought out the top second-tier silverware all the way down to a Super Heat, where Poole emerged victorious in the decisive race on their opponents’ home circuit.

The action is at Dorset tonight featuring several riders who were involved in that drama, including Pirates heroes Richard Lawson and Zach Cook, who will again face their Tigers counterparts Chris Harris and Kyle Howarth.

The hosts operate rider replacement for Fraser Bowes who suffered a punctured lung in a crash last week, whilst the visitors are without Kevin Juhl Pedersen (Danish semi-final) and Mario Hausl (injured), with Luke Harrison and Jack Smith coming in to guest.

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “It is our arch-rivals Glasgow in town this week and that in itself makes for an attractive affair.

“To think, too, that the four riders who appeared in that title run-off heat will all be in action. Chris Harris and Kyle Howarth spearhead a strong Tigers side.”

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “The boys will need to be sharp out of the starts. We will need to deliver a special performance.

“It’s hard to go into any meeting missing your own riders. But I believe that Luke and Jack can do the job we need from them.

“To be fair, we’ve not pushed them in the regulation league fixtures at Wimborne Road and that needs to change.”
