PREVIEW: OXFORD v EDINBURGH (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

OXFORD look to get off the mark in the Cab Direct Championship when they host an Edinburgh side who have started well at Cowley tonight (Wednesday).

The Monarchs have two home wins to their name so far, including a 54-36 victory in the reverse fixture which was the Cheetahs’ only league match so far.

And the Armadale side also travel with confidence having won the equivalent match last season, a result which was crucial to their play-off qualification.

Oxford remain without Erik Riss due to his vision issues, and Luke Killeen is ruled out with rib damage. Nick Morris and Jody Scott come in to guest for the home side, whilst Drew Kemp guests for the visitors in place of Dan Thompson (broken collarbone).

Cheetahs manager Peter Schroeck said: “The league is the main competition and our focus for the rest of the season.

“The starting point is making sure you win your home fixtures – that’s the main building block. After that, you can also concentrate on winning away meetings and aggregate points, but winning at home is the key to having a successful season.

“Our next two fixtures – against Edinburgh this Wednesday and against Redcar next week – are home meetings and we need to win them both.”
