PREVIEW: POOLE v BERWICK (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)
CAB Direct Championship leaders Poole are set to be at full-strength for their home clash with Berwick at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
Heat leader Anders Rowe pulled out of last week’s home win over Redcar due to a groin issue and subsequently missed two top-flight matches for Sheffield, but he has been declared fit to return against the Bandits.
Poole go into the meeting two points clear with their only league defeat so far coming in the reverse fixture at Shielfield Park when they went down narrowly 46-44.
The visitors include former Poole riders Drew Kemp, Danyon Hume and Sam Hagon, but they are without Peter Kildemand who suffered a knee injury at the weekend in Germany. Former Bandits skipper Leon Flint comes in to guest.
Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “I think we saw the importance of getting off to a strong start last week.
“We were up against a returning Pirate in Danny King who showed his liking for the place. This time around it is young Sam who will be out to prove a point.
“We have made a decent start as far as league points are concerned and with the aggregate point truly attainable then it will further strengthen our position.”
POOLE: Richard Lawson, Tobias Thomsen, Anders Rowe, Zach Cook, Lewis Kerr, Paul Starke, Darryl Ritchings.
BERWICK: Craig Cook, Sam Hagon, Danyon Hume, Drew Kemp, Leon Flint, Dayle Wood, Jack Smith.
