PREVIEW: OXFORD v REDCAR (Cab Direct Champ P/O Group B)

OXFORD look to enhance their position at the top of Group B in the Cab Direct Championship play-offs when they host Redcar tonight (Sunday, 5.30pm).

The Cheetahs have won both fixtures so far and are looking to complete a weekend double over the Bears, who they defeated 47-43 in a dramatic contest on Friday at the ECCO Arena.

The home side are at full strength whilst Redcar are forced into changes with Leon Flint and Justin Sedgmen guesting for Erik Riss (FIM Long Track) and Charles Wright (injured) respectively. Rider replacement is in operation for Connor Bailey who is racing in Poland, and Luke Harrison stands in at reserve as usual.

Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “We need to keep it professional and make sure we beat Redcar at home, although they’ll be gunning for revenge. We will treat them with full respect and look the complete the job over them.

“We would then go to Glasgow on Tuesday with our fate very much in our hands, but we’ll take it one step at a time and the next step is at home to Redcar on Sunday evening.”

Redcar co-promoter Jamie Swales said: “Whilst there’s still a slim chance of qualifying, realistically it’s our job to put on a good performance and get some race wins.

“We have Scunthorpe in the KO Cup and that’s an important competition that we want to win. whilst we also have another home match against Glasgow. Ultimately, we need to keep our heads up and go into these two meetings as confident as possible.”

OXFORD: Sam Masters, Cameron Heeps, Lewis Kerr, Jordan Jenkins, Scott Nicholls, Henry Atkins, Ashton Boughen.
REDCAR: Danny King, Connor Bailey R/R, Danyon Hume, Leon Flint, Justin Sedgmen, Jason Edwards, Luke Harrison.
