PREVIEW: OXFORD v POOLE (BSN SERIES)

OXFORD return to home track action tonight (Wednesday) as they face Southern group leaders Poole in the BSN Series.

The Pirates already have home and away wins over Plymouth on the board which means another away victory would secure their place in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile the Cheetahs are bidding to bounce back from a heavy defeat at the Coliseum in their first official Cowley fixture of the season.

Oxford are without heat-leader Erik Riss due to illness, with Justin Sedgmen coming in to guest, whilst Anders Rowe faces his club of last year, who he helped win the league and Cup double.

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “It’s always a big clash between Oxford and Poole and this will be no exception. The BSN Series is a short competition, with just four qualifying meetings and you can only afford to have one slip-up, and we had that at Plymouth on Saturday evening.

“We’re looking to bounce back against Poole, who have again put together a formidable looking side this season. It’s a mouth-watering fixture and we’re seeking to take a victory.”

Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “In our last four visits there we have been unbeaten, and if we can keep that sequence going this time then we will be assured of progress from the group. That is certainly our intention.

“The team is blending well, and the more time we spend together the stronger that will become. The lads will be heading to Oxford with a victory firmly in their sights.”
