PREVIEW: GLASGOW v EDINBURGH (MAXICAB KO CUP Q/F)

GLASGOW face an eight-point deficit heading into the second leg of their MAXiCab KO Cup quarter-final against Edinburgh at Ashfield tonight (Wednesday).

The Monarchs won 49-41 at Armadale back in late May but the sides have had to wait for the decisive fixture after a postponement due to the weather.

Glasgow bring in Tate Zischke to guest at No.5 with Kyle Howarth absent for family reasons.

Meanwhile Edinburgh No.1 Victor Palovaara is still out due to illness, and he is replaced by Jason Edwards, whilst Jonatan Grahn misses out due to a Swedish fixture, and former Monarchs rider Jacob Hook steps in.

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “It certainly won’t be easy against a very solid Monarchs side who are improving all the time. 

“We have got Villads (Nagel) back from injury and we’ll need to be firing on all cylinders. It will need to be a real powerhouse performance.

“The first leg at Armadale was a real struggle without Dan (Thompson) at the back end of May and we had riders out of form big-time. But we did really well to come away only eight points down.

“However, reeling in a lead is always a big ask. They have got strength right through the order so it will be hard to make inroads into their lead.”
