PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v REDCAR (MAXiCAB KO CUP)

EDINBURGH boss Alex Harkess insists his side can pull back a 12-point deficit in tonight’s (Friday) MAXiCab KO Cup quarter-final with Redcar.

The tie will be concluded at Armadale after the Bears ran up a 51-39 win on their own track last week, a result Harkess says was a disappointment.

But he’s backing the Monarchs to produce a big performance on their home track and do enough to book a place in the last four.

Both sides are unchanged from the first leg, although Bears manager Gavin Parr has shuffled his riding order with Jason Edwads now lining up at No.5 and Jake Allen going to No.4.

Harkess said: “The first leg score should have been a lot closer than it was. I’m sure those that didn’t score well at Redcar will be out to make up for that.

“Redcar’s strength is that they are solid and their reserves will do something, but in the end we’ve got to hope that ours also do something. Our top five should match theirs and more.

“It’s not an impossible situation, that’s for sure. it can be done and it’s up to us to do it. There are riders on both teams who could do well and equally are just as likely to have a bad night if things go wrong, a mechanical problem or a touch of the tapes.”
