PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v BERWICK (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

EDINBURGH look to consolidate their place in the Cab Direct Championship top four when they face Berwick at Armadale tonight (Friday).

The Monarchs have been in good form of late and currently have a three-point gap on the chasing pack in the race for the play-offs.

They are five points ahead of the Bandits, who go into a pivotal weekend which also features a home match against Oxford on Saturday.

Nick Morris makes his return to British Speedway after his two-year suspension, and he lines up at No.1 for the visitors who also include fellow recent signing Jonas Jeppesen.

Edinburgh boss Alex Harkess said: “Whether Nick can score as well in his first match as Craig (Cook) might have done, I don’t know. He’s a quality rider but he’s one we’ve got to beat!   

“It’s just another team coming that we have to beat. We’ve got to win, and I’m sure it should be by more than two to give us the aggregate as well.”

Berwick manager Stewart Dickson said: “Nick had a good practice session despite the jet lag and you could see the old familiarity with the bike returning with every lap.

“It’s impossible to know just how racing fit he will be, but he certainly headed north full of confidence.

“We have all our play-off rivals to face over the coming month, so our destiny is pretty much in our hands.”
