PIRATES RUSH FOR RUSHEN

POOLE have confirmed the signing of teenage sensation Cooper Rushen with their team to defend the Cab Direct Championship title now complete.

Rushen, who turns 16 at the end of March, will be racing at senior level for the first time having enjoyed a spectacular debut campaign in the Development leagues this year.

He will line up at reserve with fellow hotshot Will Cairns, who came into the Pirates side himself upon reaching the age of 16 earlier this summer.

Promoter Dan Ford said: “We were intent on bringing Cooper to Poole as soon as he was eligible to race at this level.

“Like most of the speedway world, we’ve been monitoring his progress over the past few years. He’s a stylish, charismatic young British rider who has really caught the eye.

“There is no doubt he has a solid future ahead of him and we are delighted to have, arguably, the best two teenage British riders turning out for us this coming season.”
