PIRATES DOMINANT IN HOME RETURN

POOLE gave a demonstration of serious strength with a 61-29 thumping of Workington at Wimborne Road.

The Pirates are up to third place in the Cab Direct Championship but more significantly they remain unbeaten after six league matches.

In their first outing in Dorset for a month, the home side roared to five 5-1s in the opening eight races to open up a 24-point advantage, and they went beyond 60 points when Richard Lawson overtook Jonas Jeppesen to win Heat 15.

Lawson top-scored with 13+1 and Zach Cook added 12+1 in an all-round showing from the hosts, whilst Jeppesen picked up 11 from six for the Comets.

Said Lawson: “It felt like an eternity since we have ridden here, so it is nice to get a good win and with everyone checking in with points.”
