MORE DRAMA IN SCOTTISH DERBY

A REMARKABLE finish to the Scottish derby saw Edinburgh and Glasgow draw 45-45 for the second time in eight days as league points were shared at Armadale.

But it was the visitors who left the happier as not only did they compete a comeback to take a point from the match, they also won the subsequent Super Heat for the aggregate point to move above the Monarchs in the Cab Direct Championship table.

The home side led 41-37 with two races to go, but Kevin Juhl Pedersen passed Paco Castagna on the line in Heat 14 to set up a decider, where Tigers guest Nick Morris completed a 15-point maximum and Chris Harris came from the back for a 5-1 to level the scores on the night.

Morris then led the Super Heat before being collected by home man Kye Thomson who was disqualified, meaning the visitors had a straightforward task in the re-run.

Glasgow manager Cami Brown said: “It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for the club, but nights like this make it all worthwhile. 

“To be six down with two races to go a week ago, and six down with one corner to go of Heat 14 at Armadale and still come away with a couple of points is incredible. 

“We’ve been unlucky with guests recently but for Nick to get a maximum is phenomenal. That was possibly the most complete performance you could ask for. We can only thank him for his commitment.”

Monarchs reserve Mitchell Cluff (8+3) said: “It’s a tough one, a Scottish derby, to let it slip. I thought we would tie it up in Heat 14 but Paco got done on the line and then we know what happened.

“Fair play to Bomber (Harris). For myself I’m happy with how I did, but we win together as a team and we lose together as a team.”
