LAWSON: STRONG LEAD FOR PIRATES

POOLE No.1 Richard Lawson admits the Pirates’ position at the halfway stage of the BSN Series Final is far healthier than he had been expecting.

Lawson was one of two unbeaten visiting riders in the first leg at Scunthorpe on Sunday as he raced to a 14+1 paid maximum whilst stand-in skipper Zach Cook scored the full 15.

It means the defending holders have a 53-37 advantage as they prepare to face the Scorpions again in the deciding leg at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.

Lawson said: “I didn’t expect that kind of lead. I knew we would be definitely in the mix and looking for a win, but everyone impressed and we have a strong lead now to set us up nicely for the Final.”
