FORD: FINAL VERY MUCH ALIVE
POOLE go for a hat-trick of league titles when they host Glasgow in the second leg of the Cab Direct Championship Grand Final at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
But the Pirates face a 14-point deficit heading into the meeting after Monday’s defeat at Ashfield – a margin which could have been greater given that the Tigers led 33-15 after eight races.
The home side are looking to take another step towards the Treble after their BSN Series victory earlier in the season, with the KO Cup Final still to come.
Promoter Dan Ford said: “We had been hoping to keep the scores to within ten in all honesty, but the way things were going early on, when we certainly had our fair share of bad luck, it could have been a lot worse.
“The 14-point deficit is not impossible to pull back. It is right in that danger zone and the tie is certainly very much alive and we will be looking to return the compliment on Wednesday at fortress Wimborne Road.
“It is certainly a mouth-watering tie, one that could go either way, so there is still plenty to ride for.
“I would therefore urge the supporters to come along and cheer the Pirates because we are certainly going to need our fans to be our ‘eighth man.’”
