CUP TARGET FOR PIRATES

POOLE co-promoter Dan Ford has stressed his determination to reclaim the items of major silverware which were lost last year – including the Cab Direct KO Cup.

The Pirates were beaten in the Final by Scunthorpe, ending their grip on the trophy, but they will look to launch their 2024 challenge next week with the first leg of their quarter-final tie with Edinburgh.

Ford said: “We had become quite attached to the Knockout trophy as we had held it in the office for two consecutive seasons.
“My message to Rob Godfrey (Scunthorpe promoter) is that he makes the most of having it temporarily under his custody, as we are ultra-determined to try and bring it back to where we feel it belongs.

” It is not going to be easy that’s for sure, and we could be a little bit track rusty going into the meeting (against Edinburgh) following our spate of postponements, but equally I know the lads will be determined to get some earnings under their belt.”
