COMETS STILL CHASING

WORKINGTON boss James Denham says his side will keep fighting for an unlikely play-off place in the closing weeks of the Cab Direct Championship.

The Comets pulled off a big win over title-chasing Glasgow on Saturday to remain in the hunt mathematically with three matches remaining.

And if Edinburgh are beaten at Glasgow on Friday, or if Redcar suffer a 20+-point defeat at Scunthorpe, Denham’s side will still be in with a chance when they head to Berwick on Saturday.

He said: “We now need to carry on with this form, and although the play-offs are a stretch it’s about finishing the season strongly in our last few meetings.

“We have Berwick home and away next weekend which will be a challenge, but if we can get maximum points out of that tie we will be putting pressure on those other play-off chasing sides, and who knows what could happen.”
