BEARS MOVE CLOSER

REDCAR took another step towards the Cab Direct Championship play-offs with a 54-36 win over injury-hit Plymouth at the ECCO Arena.

The Gladiators suffered a major blow in Heat 3 when Ben Barker and Joe Thompson both crashed out of the meeting, leaving them down to five riders.

Despite that, the visitors held the gap at four points with six races remaining before the Bears pulled clear with three 5-1s in the next five heats.

Home captain Charles Wright top scored with 14, dropping his only point to Nicolai Klindt (11+1) in Heat 1, whilst Jason Edwards added 10+1.

The sides meet again at the Coliseum tonight (Saturday) with Tobias Thomsen now coming in as a reduced facility guest for the unavailable Klindt for the Gladiators, who have other injury concerns to attend to. Lewis Kerr lines up for the Bears as a guest for the unwell Erik Riss.
