WSRA NDL champions Edinburgh are close to a perfect ten after winning 49-40 at Oxford on Sunday.

The Monarchs Academy are now just one win away from completing a 100 per cent season, as they led from the early stages at Cowley.

Jordy Loftus with 12 points and Dayle Wood with 10 were top scorers for the visitors, whilst British Under-19 Champion Jody Scott scored 13+1 for the Chargers.

Monarchs boss Scott Wilson said: “Once again this team showed its quality and fighting spirit. The most pleasing aspect, as it has been all season, was the contribution of the whole team.

“Today the difference ultimately came from reserve where Jamie Halder was once again excellent picking up another big score, while Anika’s (Loftus) progress continued with her biggest score of the season, paid five. Her gating was strong and she rode well to pick up crucial points for the team.”

Scott said: “We always knew it was going to be tough today – Edinburgh are the champions for a reason. The boys put in maximum effort, but it didn’t pay off for us.

“Some of the boys didn’t have such a good day, but the full name of this league is the National Development League for a reason. It’s here to develop riders and to learn things.”

Edinburgh’s bid to complete a perfect season will be decided at Leicester in their final fixture on October 17.
