SUPER SECOND FOR GB PAIRING

GREAT Britain youngsters Archie Rolph and Oliver Bovingdon finished in an excellent second position in Thursday’s European 250cc Pairs Championship in Gdansk.

Hosts Poland unsurprisingly took victory on the day with 24 points out of a possible 25 – but in a competitive battle with Denmark for runners-up spot, the GB pairing took the honours.

Rolph and Bovingdon, both aged 14, combined for maximum points in their races against Ukraine/Czechia and Sweden, and also crucially outscored the Danes 4-2 when the sides met.

That enabled them to total 18 points compared to their rivals’ 17, with those nations finishing well clear of the other three teams.

Rolph scored 11+1 and was unbeaten by an opponent until the final race against Poland, whilst Bovingdon provided strong support with 7+1.
