FOXES WIN AS WITCHES EDGE CLOSER

NORTHAMPTON edged out Ipswich 47-43 with the Witches narrowly collecting the aggregate point to boost their play-off prospects.

Several results were possible heading into the final race but home duo Jaimon Lidsey (11) and Niels-Kristian Iversen (10+3) packed in ahead of Danny King to give the Foxes their second successive home victory.

The race was won by Tobiasz Musielak (11) which ensured the Witches won on aggregate by a single point, and it was his third victory of the meeting despite a disqualification after crashing out in Heat 6. They can clinch their play-off place with strong results at home next week.

Iversen said: “It’s really good to get another win, and it’s just a shame that we’re coming to the end of the season.

“It’s still fun to come and ride here, and it’s especially more fun when we win! We can’t make the play-offs unfortunately, but it’s still good to come here and get some wins.”

King said: “I felt we could have possibly got the win. We had a bit of bad luck in places and a few little errors on track.

“That’s the way it goes sometimes. That’s speedway. Credit to Northampton – they rode hard all meeting, and they deserved the win in the end.

“It was disappointing. We fought hard right to the end, but we just fell short. We’ll take the bonus and keep pushing.”
