TIGERS DELIGHT AT WORKINGTON

GLASGOW roared to a second away win in the space of four days with an impressive 51-39 victory at Workington to go top of the Cab Direct Championship table.

The Tigers have made significant inroads in the play-off race over their last two fixtures, and back-to-back successes leave them well placed to progress after the regular league phase.

A sensational start for the visitors saw them open up a 16-point advantage after just seven races at the GT Tyres Arena, leaving the hosts looking at damage limitation at best.

Leon Flint led the Glasgow scoring with 11 points from four rides, backed up by Chris Harris (9+2), Kyle Howarth (9) and reserve Mario Hausl with an impressive 8+1. Tate Zischke notched 11 from six rides for the Comets.

Tigers manager Cami Brown said: “Mario really was super and he has delivered two fantastic performances this week. He got paid eight at Oxford and then paid nine here at Workington. He was outstanding in both meetings. 

“People forget he’s only 19 but he’s starting to find his feet and is now doing a great job for us. 

“But it was another proper team performance. Our boys won the first seven races and really suffocated Workington, we didn’t give them a sniff. 

“A week ago I said I felt we were a whisker away from getting the results we needed and we’ve got ourselves into a strong position. Now we’ve just got to keep this run going.”
