PREVIEW: BERWICK v SCUNTHORPE (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

BERWICK look for back-to-back home wins when they host a Scunthorpe side who could go to the top of the Cab Direct Championship table tonight (Saturday).

The Bandits edged out Glasgow in a thriller last weekend and they expect another tough test from the Scorpions, who have enjoyed impressive results on the road already this season.

The visitors, who will go top if they can secure the aggregate point and travel with a 28-point advantage, bring in Alfie Bowtell to guest for Luke Harrison who is on Euro Under-19 duty, whilst rider replacement is in operation for Dan Gilkes.

Bandits boss Stewart Dickson said: “Scunthorpe have already won at Redcar and drawn at Edinburgh, and we know what Josh Pickering and Connor Mountain in particular are capable of around Shielfield.

“There’s a couple more riders with limited experience around here so they are unknown quantities.

“But really it is a question of every Berwick rider concentrating on doing their own job. As long as that happens, the result will come.”

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Of course, it would be nice to move to the top of the Cab Direct Championship table, but we’re not just focusing on the aggregate point at Berwick.

“We’ve put together a string of terrific away results and I’m delighted how the boys are performing as a team. We’d like to keep that up at Berwick.”
