PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v NORTHAMPTON (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

BELLE Vue stage the first meeting of a busy Bank Holiday Monday in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership when they face Northampton with a midday start.

The Aces won their opening league match but are without Peter Kildemand after he suffered a broken collarbone and concussion in a crash at Edinburgh on Friday.

Leon Flint steps in to guest against the Foxes, who have their own issues with Niels-Kristian Iversen still unable to come into the side as he is unable to fly following a recent punctured lung.

The visitors are restricted to a reduced 75 per cent guest facility and bring in Jye Etheridge for the first of two away matches in one day, but they do track recent Belle Vue heat leaders Jaimon Lidsey and Matej Zagar.

Aces captain Brady Kurtz said: “It’s cool to see Northampton up and running – and they’ve made a decent start by all accounts.

“I saw a few clips of the track there too last week and it looks nice. It will be interesting to ride there in July.

“The Foxes have riders who go well here; we know what Jaymo can do especially. Matej is popular here too and knows the fastest way around so we can’t be complacent.”

Northampton manager Chris Adams said: “Obviously it’s another blow not having Niels for the Bank Holiday clashes. He missed Thursday with the expectation that his medical checks would be okay, but although we can see his injury is healing enough to enable him to ride, the doctors’ advice is still no flying.

“While the obvious solution is to drive to the UK, the logistical side of it all is just near impossible.

“We as a club at Northampton wish Niels a speedy recovery and hope to see him return to the UK very soon.”
