PREVIEW: POOLE v PLYMOUTH (BSN SERIES)

POOLE promoter Dan Ford expects the toughest possible test against Plymouth in their BSN Series opener at Wimborne Road tonight (Friday, 6pm).

The Pirates have reached every Final since the inception of the competition, although the silverware ultimately eluded them last year when they were beaten by Redcar in the last match of the season.

Kyle Newman steps in for the home side having replaced the injured Dan Gilkes, whilst Fraser Bowes and 16-year-old Cooper Rushen make their debuts.

Plymouth include former Poole rider Danny King at No.1, and he will make his first Gladiators appearance alongside Tobias Thomsen who has been part of the Pirates’ recent successes.

Ford said: “The wait is over and we’re really excited to get the 2026 season underway. I think the Championship is as competitive as it’s been since we joined, and there genuinely won’t be any easy meetings this year – every point is going to matter.

“As for Plymouth, I think this is the strongest side they’ve put together. They’ve got riders who are very good around Wimborne Road, so we know this is going to be a really tough test straight away.
“It’s important we start well and put ourselves in a strong position ahead of the away leg.”
