CHEETAHS UP TO FOURTH

OXFORD gave their play-off hopes a huge boost with a 46-44 win in a thrilling Cab Direct Championship battle at Shielfield Park.

Cheetahs skipper Sam Masters secured the vital second place between home duo Peter Kildemand and Jonas Jeppesen in Heat 15 to take the visitors to a crucial second away win.

Masters had earlier produced a superb ride in Heat 13 to pass Kildemand and Bandits newcomer Nick Morris to prevent the home side from going ahead.

Cheetahs reserves Luke Killeen (10) and Jonas Knudsen (9+1) gave important performances to back up Masters who scored 13. Jeppesen top-scored for the Bandits with 10.

The win moves the Cheetahs up to fourth in the table ahead of a crunch showdown with direct rivals Redcar on Wednesday.
