GB INTO EURO U24 FINAL

GREAT Britain have qualified for the Final of the European Under-24 Team Championship after a battling effort in Germany on Saturday.

GB scored 33 points at the Ludwigslust venue, trailing meeting winners Denmark who racked up 51, but crucially they did enough to overhaul a strong Czech side during the second half of the meeting, eventually defeating them by four points.

Drew Kemp was top scorer for GB on nine points whilst Leon Flint marked his return from injury with eight, a score matched by Dan Thompson. Sam Hagon notched six with reserve Jake Mulford scoring two from one ride.

Flint said: “The track was extremely difficult but we battled until the end to get the job done.

“The shoulder has definitely felt better, but if I managed to get through today, I think I’ll be ready for anything.

“Super proud of the boys and looking forward to the Final in Macon in a few weeks.”

Meanwhile Tom Brennan scored a creditable six points in the opening round of the Speedway Euro Championship in Bydgoszcz. The meeting was won by Polish star Patryk Dudek.
