PREVIEW: SCUNTHORPE v PLYMOUTH (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

SCUNTHORPE are chasing a quickfire double over Plymouth when the sides meet in the Cab Direct Championship at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday).

The Scorpions were 47-42 winners at the Coliseum last weekend in a much-needed result given their home setback against Oxford three weeks ago.

The aggregate point is also at stake tonight and the hosts are at full-strength, whilst the Gladiators welcome back Nicolai Klindt who missed their home fixture.

Klindt rode for the Scorpions at this level around a decade ago and he lines up at No.1, but Ben Barker is ruled out again following his appendix surgery.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We need to start finding consistency, but we are hanging in there and the play-offs are still very much within reach.

“We needed the result at Plymouth last weekend to pick the boys up and spur them on. It has given us a lifeline and we have more away fixtures we can target for sure.

“In the meantime, we need to finish the job we started in Devon and complete the double over the Gladiators at the Eddie Wright Raceway. We certainly won’t under-estimate the Gladiators, but we know if we fire on all cylinders, we can add another three points to our account in the Cab Direct Championship.”
