PREVIEW: OXFORD v IPSWICH (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

IPSWICH look to regain top spot in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership when they visit Oxford in tonight’s (Monday) televised encounter.

The Witches trail Sheffield by one point as they head to Cowley, a venue where they won on their previous visit back in April, but the Spires have been boosted by topping the 60-point mark against Birmingham last time out.

Oxford bring in Kyle Howarth and Richard Lawson to guest for Craig Cook and Erik Riss, who are both out with illness.

Meanwhile Ipswich bring in Jason Edwards to guest for the injured Jordan Jenkins.

Witches boss Ritchie Hawkins said: “We travel to Oxford needing to get back on track and start our run-in until the end of the season and the play-offs.

“This is where we need to start building now, and Oxford is a place we have a great record at and they have struggled this season, it is somewhere we need to be winning because they have lost a lot of meetings this year.

“They have riders that are quite capable and certainly if they all have good days then they can be a very strong team, but we hope they don’t hit form against us. We need to show what we can do.”

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “It was a tremendous result against Birmingham last time out – it was fabulous to have a night when all the boys clicked together.

“We want to enjoy a positive second half to the season and that starts by making sure we continue winning our home matches at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium, including against Ipswich.

“Witches have had a strong start to the season and are riding high in the table. But they’ve experienced a few problems recently and they certainly can be beaten.”
