PREVIEW: LEICESTER v KING’S LYNN (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

LEICESTER have the opportunity to put further distance between themselves and King’s Lynn when the sides meet at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park tonight (Thursday).

The sides are currently fourth and fifth in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership, separated by four points, but the Stars have been forced into three changes.

Ben Cook and Jan Kvech both miss the meeting after aggravating injuries at Birmingham on Monday, whilst skipper Nicolai Klindt is racing in Poland. Zach Cook guests at reserve with Tobias Thomsen also coming in, plus rider replacement for Kvech.

The Lions continue with rider replacement for the injured Luke Becker, and their recent home form has been impressive.

Manager Stewart Dickson said: “I sympathise with the position King’s Lynn have found themselves in, especially with injuries affecting them at this time.

“However, from our point of view we still need to approach the meeting properly because they still have some very capable riders.

“We have to see it as an opportunity to add league points and hopefully leave ourselves in a good position for the aggregate point, and our riders will be fully aware of what they need to do.”

Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “First and foremost we’ve had to see who is fit, but losing Nicolai for this meeting is another huge blow.

“Sadly it is what it is, it’s speedway, and we’re going there with the strongest team we can.

“It would have been so nice to go out there with seven fit riders of our own and give it a really good go, but unfortunately we don’t seem to have been able to do that. We will still do what we can in the circumstances.”
