YOUNG STARS SHINE ON

KING’S Lynn Young Stars had three riders unbeaten in a convincing 54-36 win over Leicester at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The home side collected all three points from the meeting to maintain their 100 per cent record in the National Development Trophy and move five points clear at the top.

Skipper Jody Scott swept to a five-ride 15-point maximum, fellow heat leader Luke Harrison added 9+3 from four, whilst reserve Cooper Rushen also went through the card with a full 12 from four outings.

The Fox Cubs were hampered by the withdrawal of captain Will Cairns after two rides as he was unable to continue due to neck spasms. Ace Pijper top-scored for the visitors with 11.

King’s Lynn boss Jason Pipe said: “It was another good win for us, the riders are all smiling and it puts us in a really good position in the Trophy.

“Jody wanted Heat 15, he really wanted to get a full 15-point maximum for his first max at this level, and he went out and won it well.

“The track was really good once again and I was really pleased to see a very healthy crowd tonight, it was definitely up on our first meeting and our thanks to everyone for coming along.”

Leicester manager Jen Crossland said: “Under the circumstances it wasn’t a bad result, and especially with losing Will after two rides it could have been a lot worse.

“Everyone tried their hardest and I’ve got to mention (guest) Harry Fletcher, he was really good, he kept on trying and it was great to see him get some points which he really deserved.”
