LAWSON AWESOME AS PIRATES GO CLEAR

RICHARD Lawson scored a 15-point maximum as Poole extended their lead at the top of the Cab Direct Championship with a convincing home win over Glasgow.

Lawson reeled off five straight wins for the Pirates, who took a 55-35 victory to move seven points clear and close in on confirming their play-off place.

Captain Ben Cook added 11+1 and Tom Brennan scored 10+1 with recent reserve signing Vinnie Foord chipping in with eight.

Chris Harris (11) and Matic Ivacic (8) won two races apiece for the Tigers, who are one point behind fourth-placed Workington but with a match in hand.

Lawson said: “Glasgow were good tonight and they pushed us early on, but it is always good to get one over on them.

“They are always a formidable team and obviously we owed them a big one, so it was good to win.”
