PREVIEW: OXFORD v BIRMINGHAM (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
OXFORD know a win at home to bottom club Birmingham tonight (Thursday) would add a maximum three points to their total in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
The Cheetahs recorded a big 14-point victory at Perry Barr recently and are looking to set the target for the chasing pack, as they will only have four league matches remaining after this one.
They currently hold a narrow one-point advantage over Leicester, who have four matches in hand.
Both teams name full-strength line-ups although there is a positional re-shuffle for the Brummies with Piotr Pawlicki moving back into the main body of the team under the August averages, and Michael Palm Toft goes to reserve.
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “We won’t take Birmingham for granted, although it does make our task simpler in that a win will automatically bring an aggregate point, since we took a nice victory up there a few weeks ago.
“I realise there’s a tendency at this time of year to look around and see what other teams are doing. But we’re going to avoid that.
“At the moment, we’re still in fourth place and our job is to approach one meeting at a time and add to our points tally.”
Brummies boss Sam Ermolenko said: “Trust me, these boys really are so keen to turn things around now.
“They want to win races and they want to win meetings as a team.
“Let’s hope we can get it together from the start on Thursday and give it a real good go.”
