PREVIEW: POOLE v BERWICK (CAB DIRECT CHAMPIONSHIP)
POOLE bid to complete a Cab Direct Championship double over Berwick when the sides meet at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
The Pirates have a 100 per cent league record so far and won 46-44 at Shielfield Park in the reverse fixture earlier this month.
Both sides are at full strength with Lewis Kerr fit to resume for the Bandits, having crashed out of their recent home match against Plymouth shortly after his comeback from an ankle injury.
Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “I don’t think we can get too carried away with the really big scores that we have been posting here, as we witnessed in the Cup when Edinburgh held us to single fingers.
“Berwick have a solid side, headed by Rory (Schlein) and Lewi and adding invaluable support are Drew (Kemp) and Danyon (Hume). They have all ridden for us in the not too distant past and no doubt they will be looking to try and put one over their former club.
“That said, our lads are riding well at present and putting in some very solid performances as we saw when we opened our league campaign with a win at their place in what was a thrilling meeting.”
Bandits boss Stewart Dickson said: “We have riders with experience of Poole and need them to use it.
“It is a tough place to go but we need to be positive and battle for every point, do our job and not worry too much about Poole’s reputation.
“Having Lewis back is a boost as he was in great form before his injury.”
