PREVIEW: PLYMOUTH v BIRMINGHAM (Champ)
PLYMOUTH and Birmingham have both been busy bringing in re-enforcements ahead of tonight’s (Tuesday) Championship clash at the Coliseum.
The two sides have both been severely hit by injuries in recent weeks, with Plymouth bringing in Richie Worrall, Lewis Kerr, Josh Pickering and Danyon Hume to replace the absent members of their top five.
Reserve Ben Morley has been declared fit after his crash at Mildenhall on Sunday, and is named as captain.
Justin Sedgmen takes over as Brummies skipper, with visitors calling up Kye Thomson, Jacob Hook, Broc Nicol and Lee Complin.
Plymouth promoter Mark Phillips has confirmed injured Danes Michael Palm Toft and Hans Andersen hope to be fit by the weekend, whilst Alfie Bowtell is seeking a private consultation on his knee ligament injury.
Birmingham boss Laurence Rogers said: “With all the bad luck we’ve had of late, it’s hard to believe we’ve found another club who have been hit just as hard.
“We know injuries are, sadly, part and parcel of the sport but I can’t recall a time in all my years involved in speedway where two teams going up against each other have been so equally damaged by injuries.
“A change in averages for August has made things even more difficult for us – but as always, we will head to Plymouth and give it our best shot.”
PLYMOUTH: Richie Worrall, Alfie Bowtell R/R, Lewis Kerr, Danyon Hume, Josh Pickering, Ben Morley, Harry McGurk.
BIRMINGHAM: Kye Thomson, Jacob Hook, Stefan Nielsen R/R, Broc Nicol, Justin Sedgmen, Lee Complin, James Pearson.
