PREVIEW: OXFORD v POOLE (CJL)

OXFORD and Poole head into back-to-back Championship Jubilee League fixtures this week which could decide the Southern section.

The sides meet at Cowley tonight (Tuesday) with the Cheetahs knowing they must win both matches to keep their hopes alive, as Poole head the table with 11 points from three meetings, whilst Oxford have nine from four.

Both clubs name full-strength line-ups with Jack Thomas making his return from injury for the Cheetahs, and Dillon Ruml is back from international duty.

Oxford co-boss Peter Schroeck said: “We have to win both meetings, it’s as simple as that. There are a still plenty of permutations, even in our ideal scenario, but beating Poole home and away is essential.

“I believe it’s achievable as well. Our squad has come a long way since we last raced the Pirates in April with the additions of Paul (Starke) and Aaron (Summers) who both have invaluable experience.

“It will be a fantastic spectacle for the fans, both teams are in good form, and we hope to see another strong crowd trackside which can really help to make the difference.”

Pirates skipper Danny King said: “We believe we can go and get a result. It’s a place we go well at, we won there in the league and the way we are riding as a team now it is reasonable to believe we can get the result we need to book our place in the Final. But we just have to go one match at a time.”

OXFORD: Scott Nicholls, Paul Starke, Jack Thomas, Aaron Summers, Troy Batchelor, Cameron Heeps, Dillon Ruml.
POOLE: Steve Worrall, Drew Kemp, Danny King, Ben Cook, Richard Lawson, Zach Cook, Nathan Ablitt.
