PREVIEW: WOLVERHAMPTON v SHEFFIELD (LC)
WOLVERHAMPTON face a tough test to open their competitive season when Sheffield visit Monmore tonight (Monday).
The Steel City side have already stolen a march in the Northern League Cup group thanks to their 46-44 victory at Belle Vue last week.
Steve Worrall and Drew Kemp make their official Wolves debuts, whilst Craig Cook and former Wolves rider Tobiasz Musielak are available for the Tigers after missing out against the Aces due to Covid and injury respectively.
Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “They’ve put together a really good team. It’s going to be a tough meeting for us, but we’re happy with the team we have put together.
“I think we’ve got a really solid top five whose points alone I’d like to think could get us over the line most times and then anything those young lads (at reserve) come up with will be a nice little bonus.”
Sheffield boss Simon Stead said: “It’s our second and final away meeting in the group and if we can get something from it then we know we have it in our hands to win our two home meetings.
“To get the win at Belle Vue without our two new signings was a great achievement so let’s see how we go at Wolves.”
WOLVERHAMPTON: Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Nick Morris, Ryan Douglas, Steve Worrall, Drew Kemp, Leon Flint.
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Craig Cook, Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Stefan Nielsen, Connor Mountain.
