SPONSOR DEAL FOR TIGER CUBS

SHEFFIELD’S new WSRA National Development League team have secured a title sponsorship deal with Autocraft Motor Caravans.

The joint side, who will also stage home meetings at Scunthorpe, race for the first time this season as the Tiger Cubs at Owlerton on Thursday when they face Middlesbrough.

Autocraft Motor Caravans have a strong speedway background with Jonno Birks a long-serving mechanic on the world stage and Ashley Birks a former National League Riders’ Champion who rode for both Sheffield and Scunthorpe during the 2010s.

Said Birks: “Speedway means so much to our family, particularly me and my brother Jonno, we just love the sport.

“It’s been such a massive part of our lives and whilst we’ve helped out with sponsorship previously, when the opportunity came along to be main team sponsors of Sheffield in the National Development League, it was a no-brainer for us really.

“It’s great to see that level of racing coming back to Sheffield, and Scunthorpe, and that league is so important to the young, up-and-coming riders.

“Hopefully our support will help the club and the riders and it would be nice if this wasn’t just a one year thing.”
