NDL LIMIT ADJUSTED

NATIONAL Development League clubs have unanimously agreed to a slight increase to this season’s points limit.

The mark had been set at 36 following the third tier’s AGM last November, but it has now been raised to 36.25.

The result of that move is that 16-year-old Max Perry, who had looked set to miss out on an NDL place, is now able to be accommodated with Edinburgh, and he completes the Monarchs Academy line-up.

BSPL chairman Rob Godfrey said: “This move has been agreed between all the clubs in the spirit of rider development, which is what the NDL is all about.

“It was in nobody’s interests for a talented young rider like Max to miss out on a team place in the league just because it would have put Edinburgh over the limit by 0.05 of a point.

“He’s only been in the NDL for two years and the additional meetings will be good for him, especially coming back from his injuries at the end of last season.

“The clubs have all worked together here and seen the bigger picture, and it’s a sensible outcome to ensure one of our top young prospects doesn’t miss out.”
