LION CUBS FIGHT BACK FOR WIN

LEICESTER Lion Cubs pulled off an impressive recovery from 12-points down to win a Super Heat at Sheffield in the WSRA National Development League.

They trailed the Steelers 24-12 after six races but gradually clawed their way back into the meeting, with a 5-1 in Heat 11 and 4-2s in the next two races levelling the match.

Steelers No.1 Luke Harrison won Heat 15 to leave the scores at 45-45, but in the Super Heat it was Lion Cubs duo Cooper Rushen and Ben Trigger who took the honours, with the visitors also collecting the aggregate point.

Leicester manager Jen Crossland said: “The lads were absolutely brilliant and I’m so glad they got the result they deserved in the end.

“We didn’t get off to the best of starts, but the whole group worked together to try and turn things around, they dug really deep and they just kept chipping away at that deficit.

“They never know when they’re beaten and they never give up, and it was great to see that team spirit shining through just like it has done on several occasions this year.”
